姫路城は日本最良の現存する封建の城で、鮮やかな白い外観と優美なシルエットから「白鷺城」の愛称を持つ。1609年築で、第二次大戦の空襲、地震、火災を生き延び当初の木造を保つ。世界遺産にして国宝、日本の城建築の頂点を表す。
城の防御設計は武士の軍事工学を見せる: 混乱させる迷路の道、隠し門、攻撃者に石を落とす石落とし、急な木の階段。六層の天守が姫路の街のパノラマを。周囲の桜（1000本超）が4月初に壮観な花見をつくる。

戦略的な見学: 9:00開場に着けば人出なく天守を（定員制で週末は11:00に30〜60分待ちが生じる）。天守の狭い階段と低い天井が詰まる — 早い入場が円滑な流れを。天守後、午後の人出が天守に集中する頃に西の丸と庭を。
建築の見どころ: 城は巧妙な防御設計を: 天守への道が何度も折り返し（攻撃者を混乱）、門が直角で破城槌を防ぎ、白壁に矢・鉄砲狭間を戦略的に。白漆喰の壁（耐火）と精巧な破風が機能と美を示す。
桜か夏か: 花見（3月下旬〜4月初）は1日10万人超 — 城の敷地が極度に混むが視覚的に見事。夏（6〜8月）は緑の景、少ない人出、延長時間、白い城と青空の対比。桜の美を失っても、より良い見学のためピークを避けるのも一案。
