Amago Falls

**Swimming pools:** The three pools above the main falls are swimmable July–August (water temperature ~18°C). Locals come on weekday afternoons — the lower pool is crowded on summer weekends but the upper pools require 20 extra minutes of scrambling and are almost always empty. **Autumn foliage:** Mid-November, the walls of the gorge turn a mosaic of red and yellow. Timed with the 10:00–14:00 direct sunlight window into the gorge, the colors achieve maximum saturation. The combination of gold maple over turquoise water is exceptional.
