Niemon Daiko, hidden in the mountains of Kamogawa, is a taiko drum workshop and performance space founded by taiko master Hayashi Eitetsu. The complex includes a traditional wooden hall where visitors can watch taiko-making (drums are carved from single logs, stretched with cowhide, and tuned over months), attend performances, and participate in beginner taiko lessons.

The experience of playing taiko — standing before a 1.5-meter drum, striking with full-body motion to create thunder that vibrates your sternum — is visceral and immediate.
