Obi was a castle town ruled by the Ito clan for over 400 years, preserving Edo-period streetscapes with samurai residences, merchant houses, and white-walled warehouses. The town is nicknamed 'Little Kyoto of Kyushu' for its preserved historic district, though it's far smaller and less crowded than actual Kyoto. Obi Castle (reconstructed main gate and walls) sits atop a hill overlooking the town.

Eat while walking the historic district. **Castle view:** Obi Castle's reconstructed keep provides elevated view over the town's tiled rooftops with mountains beyond.
