在距博多约20分钟车程的筿栗杉林深处,南藏院供奉着一尊长41公尺、高11公尺的青铜卧佛——全球同类之中最大的一尊。它的尺度大到让人失去距离感:沿着小径走着走着,树林间突然冒出一只像厢型车那么大的佛足。这尊身披红袈裟、呈涅槃卧姿的大佛,走到空地时从300公尺外就能望见。
主佛之外,南藏院境内还有88尊石佛,排成一圈重现了浓缩版的四国八十八所遍路——走完一圈约需90分钟,途中会穿过覆满青苔、尽管紧邻着现代大佛却仍显得古意盎然的森林。
