**Collection highlights:** The second-floor textile gallery displays complete examples of the Yumihama-gasuri weaving process from cotton thread dyeing to finished fabric — a local craft tradition nearly extinct. The kasuri patterns (geometric ikat-style designs in indigo on white) were used for daily-wear kimonos and work clothes. Some pieces are 150+ years old yet retain vibrant color. The museum shop sells modern reproductions as handkerchiefs and bags (¥1,500–3,000). **Festival float room:** The museum preserves a full-size festival float (dashi) from Tottori's Shan-shan Festival, displaying the craftsmanship of traditional float construction — carved wooden frames, painted panels, and the umbrella-like decorations that give the festival its name. Understanding this float adds context if you attend the actual Shan-shan Festival (mid-August). **Merchant house architecture:** Walk through slowly to appreciate the architectural design principles. The wooden beams show joinery techniques (no nails, only interlocking wood) that have survived 180+ years. **Temporary exhibitions:** The museum rotates special exhibitions quarterly, often focusing on specific craft techniques (pottery, paper-making, sake brewing) or historical themes.
