Gala Yuzawa Ski Resort
Image d'illustration — il ne s'agit pas d'une photo de ce lieu.
Gala Yuzawa is the only ski resort in the world with a dedicated shinkansen station inside the resort building — Tokyo visitors can board the shinkansen at Tokyo Station at 8:00, arrive at Gala Yuzawa Station at 9:30, rent equipment in the station building, and be skiing by 10:00. The resort operates December–May, receiving 12+ meters of snowfall annually from the same weather systems that created Kawabata's 'Snow Country.' The base elevation (800m) is relatively low, but heavy snowfall compensates, creating deep powder conditions.
The resort has 17 courses, a 2.5km longest run, and a gondola accessing advanced terrain. It caters heavily to day-trippers from Tokyo (1.5-hour travel time) and offers all-inclusive packages (shinkansen + lift + rental from ¥15,000 round-trip from Tokyo).
