Nihondaira est un plateau entre Shizuoka et Shimizu ou les rangees de theiers tailles avec une precision millimetrique descendent en terrasses vers la cote, avec le mont Fuji et la baie de Suruga en toile de fond. C'est l'une des vues les plus photographiees de Shizuoka et un bel endroit pour comprendre pourquoi cette prefecture produit 40 % du the du Japon.
Le telepherique Nihondaira-Kunozan relie le plateau au sanctuaire Kunozan Toshogu, premier lieu de sepulture de Tokugawa Ieyasu, perche sur une falaise dominant la mer. La combinaison de paysage agricole, d'histoire et de vues sur le Fuji fait de Nihondaira une excursion sereine et peu touristique.
