Most tourists start at 6-chome station and walk south toward shrine (gradual descent, easier than reverse). **Local dining:** The arcade's restaurants serve working-class Osaka food at non-tourist prices: udon shops (¥500–700), tonkatsu (¥800–1,200), teishoku set meals (¥700–1,000). Try Tenma Udon (天満うどん, handmade noodles ¥600) in 4-chome or Tenjin Tonkatsu (天神とんかつ, crispy pork cutlets ¥900) in 3-chome. The shrine grounds include beautiful gardens, bronze ox statues (rub the ox's head for wisdom), and fortune-telling (おみくじ omikuji ¥200).
