Zenkoji

Bus: City Loop Bus from Nagano Station stops near Zenkoji (¥100, 5 min, runs every 15 min). Taxi: From Nagano Station approximately ¥700–900 (5 min). Car: Parking in Zenkoji area is available but roads narrow on busy mornings — train or walk strongly recommended.
Meilleur moment pour visiter
Arrive 20–30 minutes before the morning service (Oasaji) for the Ojuzu Chōdai ritual. Weekday mornings have 70% fewer crowds than weekend midday. The Nakamise approach is most atmospheric at dawn.
Conseils pour éviter la foule
The Okaidan Meguri underground passage bottlenecks on weekends — go before 9 AM to avoid slow-moving groups. The morning service draws regulars plus tourists; arrive before 5 AM in summer for a front-row position. Tour groups dominate 10 AM–3 PM. The pilgrimage site is busy year-round but never outrageously crowded outside of Gokaichō years.
Informations de stationnement
Several paid lots in the Zenkoji area (¥300–500/hour). Roads around the temple are narrow and parking fills quickly on weekends and during festivals. Public transport or walking from Nagano Station is strongly recommended.
