**Pilgrim route vs. Direct route:** The pilgrim route (east trail) passes all 12 sacred markers and is significantly more atmospheric — cedar trees lean over the path and the markers appear at unexpected turns. The direct route is faster but misses the spiritual narrative. **Summit ceremony viewing:** On the spring equinox (March 20–21) and autumn equinox (September 22–23), small ceremonies are held at the summit shrine — attended by 20–30 local devotees. No tourist structure around them; simply happening.
