有田是日本瓷器的發源地——1616年,朝鮮陶工李參平在泉山發現適合燒製真正瓷器的白土,建立起有田窯,透過荷蘭東印度公司供應歐洲皇室長達200年。這座小鎮至今仍有逾百座活躍窯場生產有田燒,有田陶瓷公園更重現了德國麥森風格的巴洛克建築(正是歐洲人當年仿效有田外銷瓷的模型),與周圍稻田形成意想不到的對比。
