The Sera plateau sits at around four hundred metres in the middle of Hiroshima, on soil that suits flowers better than most crops, and a single operator runs four separate farms across it with the seasons staggered so that something is at peak from late March to early November.

The rotation runs tulips and cherry blossom in spring, then 450,000 moss phlox and a million nemophila, then roses in early summer, then sunflowers, then dahlias into autumn. Each farm opens only for its own season and charges by how far the flowers have come, typically ¥700 to ¥1,200 for adults. Because it is a working plateau of orchards and dairies rather than a resort, the surrounding roads are worth driving as much as the fields are worth walking.

Four separate flower farms operate on staggered seasons from late March to early November, each opening only for its own flowering period. Kamu no Sato at Kamitsuta 3-3 runs tulips from late March to early May and moss phlox and nemophila in spring, 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM on weekdays with last entry 4:30 PM and 9:00 AM – 6:00 PM at weekends with last entry 5:30 PM. Adult admission generally ¥700–1,200 and children aged 4 to elementary school ¥300–600, varying with the flowering stage. Confirm which farm is open before travelling.

**Four farms, four seasons, one operator.** Only one or two are open at any time. Checking which before you drive is the single most important thing here. **Admission moves with the flowers.** Prices are set by how far into bloom the field is, so an early visit is cheaper and less impressive. The operator publishes the current stage. **Weekends close an hour later in spring.** Six in the evening rather than five, which matters for late light on the phlox and nemophila. **Drive the plateau.** Sera is orchards, dairies and roadside stands at four hundred metres. The countryside between the farms is a large part of what makes the trip. **It is about an hour from Hiroshima.** Inland and upland, so spring runs later here than on the coast and autumn earlier.
