**Burial process:** Change into provided yukata, walk onto the beach, lie in a shallow sand pit. Attendants shovel hot sand over your entire body (except face) until you're buried under 10–15cm. A towel under your head prevents sand in hair. The heat builds gradually — signal if it's too hot and staff remove some sand. Most people last 10–15 minutes before the heat becomes intense. **Post-burial shower:** After digging yourself out, return inside to shower off sand, then soak in the indoor onsen baths (included in price). The bath-after-burial sequence maximizes the detox effect — locals swear by it for muscle recovery. **Best timing:** Visit at low tide (check tide tables) when more beach is exposed and burial pits are farther from the waves. Early morning (8:30–10:00) or evening (18:00–20:00) avoids tour bus crowds. Overcast days are more comfortable than blazing sun (the sand + sun combo can be overwhelming).
