Kusatsu Onsen es uno de los tres onsen más célebres de Japón. Su yubatake (campo de agua caliente) es un entramado de canales de madera en la plaza central por donde el agua sulfurosa se enfría naturalmente. El agua ácida (pH 2) tiene propiedades antibacterianas legendarias. Hay baños públicos gratuitos repartidos por toda la ciudad.
