Lucky Pierrot (ラッキーピエロ) is a Hakodate-only burger chain with 17 locations, each themed differently (pirate ship, carousel, Chinese palace, etc.). The burger is messy, indulgent, and utterly Japanese in its fusion sensibility.

The chain's mascot is a clown (Lucky Pierrot = Lucky Clown), and locations are decorated with overwhelming kitsch — mannequins, neon, vintage toys, carousel horses. The experience is part American diner, part Japanese pop maximalism. Despite the tourist popularity, locals genuinely eat here — a rarity for 'famous' regional chains.

Avoid the airport branch (long waits, reduced menu). **Peak times:** Lunch (12:00-13:00) and dinner (18:00-20:00) have 15-30 minute waits at popular branches.
