Spa Resort Hawaiians (スパリゾートハワイアンズ) is Japan's largest indoor water park, a surreal tropical complex featuring constant 28°C air temperature, palm trees, white sand beaches, and massive water slides — all located in Fukushima's mountains far from any ocean. The resort originated as a recovery project after local coal mines closed in the 1960s; miners drilled hot spring wells and transformed the mining town into a spa destination. The facility uses natural geothermal hot springs (42°C, 3.5 million liters daily) to heat the pools and maintain tropical climate year-round, even during Fukushima's snowy winters.

The complex includes six themed zones: Water Park (giant slides, wave pool), Springs Park (outdoor rotenburo), Spa Garden (relaxation pools), Virport (fitness pools), Edo Jowa Yoichi (Edo-period theme baths), and the highlight — daily Polynesian hula shows performed by the resort's professional dance troupe, who train under Hawaiian instructors. The hula shows (twice daily, included with admission) feature fire dancing, traditional Hawaiian music, and elaborate costumes. The combination of hot springs, water slides, and tropical atmosphere creates an otherworldly experience completely unexpected in northern Japan.

Guía privilegiada

Premium
**Hula show timing:** Two daily performances (13:30 and 20:00, 40 minutes each) in the Water Park zone's dedicated theater. The 20:00 evening show is less crowded and features more elaborate lighting and fire dancing. Arrive 30 minutes early for front-row seating (unreserved, first-come). The shows are professionally choreographed and surprisingly high-quality — not merely tourist entertainment. The resort's dance troupe (Hawaiians Hula Girls) has won international competitions and performs authentically Hawaiian repertoire. **Zone strategy:** Arrive at opening (10:00) to experience all zones before crowds peak at 13:00. Start with Water Park slides (Big Aloha, 283m-long body slide; Wai Wai Ohana, family raft slide) when wait times are minimal (5–10 minutes vs. 30+ minutes afternoon). Transition to Springs Park outdoor rotenburo (11:00–12:00) for onsen bathing with mountain views. Edo Jowa Yoichi zone offers traditional Japanese bathing in period architecture — the most serene area, excellent for unwinding (15:00–17:00 when most guests are at dinner). **Overnight value:** Hotel Hawaiians packages (¥13,000–18,000/person with meals and park access) include evening park access after day-trippers leave (18:00+) — Water Park becomes nearly empty, allowing unlimited slides with zero wait. Breakfast and dinner buffets feature Hawaiian-inspired fusion cuisine alongside Japanese dishes. The package effectively provides 12+ hours of park access vs. day-ticket's rushed 4–6 hours. Book 2 months ahead for weekends; weekday availability is good with 2-week advance booking.
