Myoken Fireworks Festival

**Competition judging:** The fireworks are scored by judges on technical execution, aesthetic design, and innovation. The winning company's trophy presentation happens after the finale (22:00). Staying for the ceremony provides context for which displays were considered best — educational for understanding pyrotechnic craft. **Position strategy:** The north bank (Kyusendo Park side) provides straight-on views ideal for photography. The south bank (residential side) has closer proximity to the launch point, creating overhead explosions. The north bank fills first; south bank has more available space but requires navigating residential streets. **Festival context:** The fireworks are part of the larger Myoken Festival honoring the Shinto deity Myoken. The daytime procession (16:00–18:00) features lion dances, portable shrine parades, and traditional drum performances through Yatsushiro's downtown.
