Bitchu-Matsuyama est le château d'origine situé le plus haut du Japon (430 m). Les matins d'automne, une mer de nuages enveloppe la montagne et le château semble flotter dans le ciel. The Unkai Observatory (700m from parking area) provides the best vantage point without entering the castle. Peak season is October–December when foliage adds color contrast. **Hiking preparation:** The 700-meter path from 5th parking area to castle gate climbs 150 vertical meters via stone steps and dirt trail.
