The Bandai Bridge spans the Shinano River at the heart of Niigata City, connecting the historic riverside district with the modern city center.
The riverside promenade beneath the bridge hosts weekend craft markets, and the area comes alive during Niigata Festival (early August) when the bridge is closed to traffic and becomes a viewing platform for the river fireworks display.
