Nada (灘) is Japan's largest sake-producing region, historically known as the 'Five Villages' (灘五郷) where over 30 breweries line the coast between Kobe and Nishinomiya. The area's Miyamizu water (宮水, mineral-rich well water), Yamada Nishiki rice, and cold winters create ideal sake brewing conditions. Nada produces 25% of Japan's premium sake, including famous brands like Hakutsuru, Kikumasamune, and Kenbishi.

Many breweries offer tours and tastings — walk through traditional wooden structures, observe fermentation tanks, learn the koji-making process, and sample different sake grades (junmai, ginjo, daiginjo). The Sake Museum and on-site shops allow purchasing limited-edition local brews unavailable outside the region.

Nada Ward, Kobe. Scattered along Hanshin Railway line (Uozaki–Mikage area). Recommended: Hakutsuru Sake Brewery Museum (白鶴酒造資料館, free entry, tastings ¥300, 10:00–16:00), Kiku-Masamune Sake Museum (菊正宗酒造記念館, free, 9:30–16:30). Brewery hopping: allow 3 hours for 2–3 visits.

The attached shop sells brewery-only limited editions.
