가라쓰성(1608년)은 마쓰우라강 하구 바로 위 소나무 덮인 곶에 서 있으며, 삼면이 바다를 향한다 — 모든 창에서 바다가 시야를 지배하는 일본의 몇 안 되는 성 자리다. 재건 천수(1966년)엔 가라쓰 군치 축제 유물의 잘 큐레이션된 컬렉션이 있는데, 매년 11월 초 시내를 행진하는 14대의 축제 수레(히키야마)를 포함한다. 신화적 존재와 중국 장면을 나타내는 수레들은 200년간 유지・재도장되어 온 칠기 공예품이다.
