Susukino (すすきの) is Japan's largest nightlife district north of Tokyo, a 6-block area of neon-lit streets packed with 4,000+ bars, izakaya, ramen shops, karaoke, and clubs. The district comes alive after dark when office workers finish work, and the streets fill with crowds moving between drinking spots. The neon signs — stacked vertically on every building — create a cyberpunk aesthetic that's quintessentially Japanese urban nightlife.

The district is safe, well-policed, and accessible to tourists despite the nightlife focus. Susukino is where Sapporo locals go to eat, drink, and socialize — it's not a 'red light' district (though some establishments cater to that).
