Amago Falls — Kyushu's Hidden Autumn Canyon
In the mountain river valleys of Asakura, the Amago River has carved a narrow gorge where the water drops through a series of pools connected by short cascades. The largest drop (Amago-no-taki) is 20 meters and falls directly into a turquoise-green pool enclosed by lichen-covered walls of granite. The gorge is 25 minutes on foot from the trailhead — accessible but not trivial, requiring two log-bridge crossings and one section of fixed-rope descent.
