栉田神社藏在博多站商圈的后方,是博多商人文化的精神中心——至少自西元757年起便是这座贸易之城的守护神。神社境内小巧而终日不歇:无论何时,都有送货员停下脚步鞠躬后才继续赶路、学生在考前留下供品、长者完成每日巡拜摄社的功课。
本殿供奉着博多祇园山笠的山车——这些曾在城中游行、如今作为常设展示的巨大祭典结构。最大的饰山笠高15公尺、重达1公吨,表面覆满数百尊描绘神话场景的小人偶,近看那份工艺令人叹为观止。
