锦市场是一条有顶棚的窄巷商店街,容纳逾百家专门食材店,贩售京都的时令食材:渍物、京都风寿司、新鲜汤叶(豆皮)、烤鱼、和菓子与茶。市场已营业400年,最初是鱼货批发市场,如今仍是京都顶级餐厅的采购地。
商店街东西向贯穿京都市中心400公尺,两侧店家紧密相连。气氛热闹而有序——摊商吆喝、常有免费试吃,烤鱼与炖高汤的香气弥漫其间。
