秋葉原(常簡稱「Akiba」)是東京的電器與御宅(阿宅)文化街區,密集的500公尺內塞滿多層電器行、動漫店、電玩遊樂場、女僕咖啡廳與模型店。這一帶從二戰後的黑市收音機零件商,演變為1980年代的電器大賣場中心,再到今日的動漫・漫畫・遊戲朝聖地。街上滿是霓虹招牌、動漫角色看板,以及大聲放送J-pop與動漫主題曲的喇叭。
街區的招牌特色:Yodobashi Camera(8層樓、想得到的電子產品應有盡有)、Mandarake(8層樓的二手漫畫/動漫商品)、Super Potato(復古電玩天堂),以及女僕身穿維多利亞式服裝、伴隨卡哇伊表演上菜的主題女僕咖啡廳。秋葉原是招架不住的感官轟炸,但它代表的是真實的次文化——而非為觀光打造的模擬。
