秋田竿燈祭是東北三大祭典之一,每年8月3至6日舉行。核心是「竿燈」——一根高達12公尺的竹竿,掛著46盞紙燈籠(提灯),總重可達50公斤。表演者(多為男性,也有女性與兒童)將這些點亮的竹竿平衡於手掌、額頭、肩膀與腰間,隨太鼓與笛聲行走穿越秋田市中心。這幅奇景象徵著祈求稻米豐收——竿燈的造型宛如結實累累、沉甸甸的稻穗。
最多可達280支竿燈同時在竿燈大通遊行,在夜空下形成一條搖曳生輝的燈籠河流。所需的技藝極為驚人——將12公尺長的竹竿平衡在額頭上行走,需要多年苦練。當表演者失去控制、竿燈傾倒時,附近的隊友會迅速衝上前接住,避免燈籠落地(成功接住會贏得熱烈掌聲)。祭典氛圍熱烈——四個夜晚吸引130萬觀眾,街頭小吃攤、夏日暑氣,加上太鼓在建築物間迴盪的催眠節奏,共同構成難忘的體驗。

祭典:8月3至6日,每晚18:50–21:00。千秋公園白天競賽9:00–15:40。
公休: 祭典僅限每年8月3至6日。展示館全年開放9:00–16:30。
