黑川溫泉是阿蘇山北方山中一座保存完好的溫泉村落，全村刻意維持江戶時代聚落的風貌——沒有現代建築、沒有霓虹招牌，只有沿著森林溪谷而建的傳統木造旅館。這種整體一致性源自1980年代社區的一項決定：拒絕各旅館各自現代化，轉而打造出一種和諧美學，吸引追求真實氛圍的旅客。
「入湯手形」（¥1,300）讓遊客可在24間參與旅館中，任選三座公共浴池入浴——這套系統鼓勵旅客探索各具特色的露天浴池、洞窟浴池與溪畔野天風呂。
營業時間
旅館公共浴池（當日遊客）：通常10:00–21:00（依旅館而異）。遊客中心：9:00–18:00。
公休: 全年開放。個別浴池可能每週休一日進行維護。
門票
入湯手形（24間旅館中任選3湯）：¥1,300。個別浴池入場：¥500–800。旅館住宿（含餐點）每人¥15,000起。
