名古屋城是日本最壯麗的城堡之一,天守閣頂端矗立著標誌性的金鯱(傳說中的鯱魚)。1612年由德川家康下令興建,整個江戶時代作為權勢顯赫的尾張德川家的居城。現存的混凝土建築為1959年重建,不過天守閣正以傳統榫接工法進行忠於史實的木造重建。
城的腹地達53公頃,包括2018年復原完成的本丸御殿——以金箔隔扇、彩繪天花與展現封建大名居所奢華的廳堂令人驚豔。御殿的對面所以金底虎豹畫作奪目,被視為狩野派的傑作。城公園四季變換——2月梅花、4月櫻花、11月楓紅,襯著城的白牆與綠銅屋頂,各有風情。
