Taibusa Cape (太房岬) forms the southernmost tip of the Boso Peninsula, where the Pacific Ocean meets Uraga Channel. The surrounding cape area is a windswept grassland ecosystem — rare in developed Japan — where native grasses, wildflowers, and migratory birds thrive in the constant sea breeze.

The walk from the parking area to the lighthouse crosses open headlands with 180-degree ocean views. On clear winter days, Mt. Fuji appears across Sagami Bay, and the Izu Peninsula is visible to the west. The geological formations — tilted sedimentary layers from undersea uplift — create striped cliff patterns visible from the viewing platforms.

The lighthouse and Fuji align in a single composition from the western headland path. Bring a telephoto lens (200mm+) to compress the distance. **Wildflower seasons:** Spring (April–May) covers the grasslands in white daisies and yellow buttercups. Autumn (September–October) brings susuki (pampas grass) in silver waves. The grassland ecosystem is maintained by controlled burns and grazing — a rare example of traditional land management preserved. **Migration season:** The cape is a key stopover for migratory raptors (hawks, eagles) traveling between mainland Asia and Japan in spring (April) and autumn (October). Early morning observation from the eastern cliffs shows birds riding updrafts created by the cliffs. Bring binoculars. **Combine with:** Shirahama Flower Park (a drive north) and Nojimazaki Lighthouse (a drive south, another dramatic cape) can be combined for a full-day cape-hopping circuit along Boso's southern coast.
