橫濱中華街是日本最大的中華街,500公尺見方的窄街方格中塞滿逾600家店與餐廳。1859年橫濱開港通商時形成,街區以華麗的牌坊、傳統建築、中式廟宇與涵蓋中國各地的料理,保存著道地的華人文化。
街區以十座標示方位的裝飾牌坊為界,南側主入口是善鄰門。街內熱鬧非凡——點心店蒸著竹籠、餐廳櫥窗掛著北京烤鴨、路邊攤賣珍珠奶茶與肉包,紀念品店從熊貓玩偶到中藥材應有盡有。供奉關羽的關帝廟是精神中心,金紅相間的華麗建築,巨大銅香爐冒著裊裊香煙。
中華街的料理橫跨各地菜系:粵式點心、川味麻婆豆腐、上海小籠包、北京烤鴨,以及日式中華如燴麵。街區每年接待逾2000萬人次,是橫濱與港未來並列的頭號景點。
