Beppu Ropeway to Mt. Tsurumi
Imagen representativa — no es una fotografía de este lugar.
Mt. Tsurumi (1,375m) overlooks Beppu from the west, and the Beppu Ropeway ascends 800 meters in 10 minutes to an observation deck just below the summit. The panorama encompasses Beppu Bay, the entire city with its visible steam plumes, and on clear days extends to Shikoku across the inland sea. The summit area contains hiking trails through alpine vegetation and Tsurumi Shrine.
The mountain's volcanic activity (last eruption 1867) still produces geothermal features — hikers encounter steam vents and warm ground along summit trails.
