Kakunodate conserva un barrio samurái del siglo XVII con residencias de muros negros y cerezos shidarezakura llorones que en primavera forman túneles de pétalos rosas. La casa Aoyagi y la casa Ishiguro muestran armaduras, mapas antiguos y utensilios de la vida samurái.

Shinkansen: Akita Shinkansen (Komachi) from Tokyo to Kakunodate Station (3 hrs 10 min, ¥17,500 reserved). Walk 20 min or take taxi (¥800). Car: Tohoku Expressway to Kosaka IC, then Route 105 (4 hrs from Tokyo). Parking at station lot (¥500/day). Bicycle: Rental at station (¥500/day) to access both samurai district and Hinokinai River embankment 2 km away.
Mejor momento para visitar
Cherry blossom peak: weekday mornings 7:00–9:00 AM before tour buses arrive at 9:30 AM. Off-season: arrive 9:00 AM when samurai houses open for best light in tatami rooms.
Consejos para evitar multitudes
Cherry blossom weekends (late April) are extremely crowded — 10,000+ visitors. Weekday mornings offer 90 minutes of relative solitude. Outside blossom season, Kakunodate is rarely crowded. Autumn is the best balance of beauty and manageable visitor numbers.

Kakunodate Station: paid lot ¥500/day. During cherry blossom season, additional lots open near the Hinokinai River (¥500). The district streets have no parking — use station lots and walk.
