**Mountain visibility:** Tateyama range views are weather-dependent — haze, clouds, and humidity obscure mountains on 50–60% of days. For best chances: visit in winter (December–March) when air is clearest, early morning (6:00–9:00) before haze builds, or after rain when atmosphere is washed clean. Check weather forecasts and local webcams (available at Takaoka tourism websites). Even locals consider clear Tateyama views a special treat. **Photography timing:** Sunrise (6:00–7:00 depending on season) offers the most dramatic lighting — mountain silhouettes against dawn sky, often with fog banks rolling across Toyama Bay. Sunset (17:00–18:00) backlights the peaks, creating orange-sky-and-mountain silhouettes. Midday light flattens the scene. For photographers, predawn arrival is essential — stake out positions along the beach or elevated viewpoints near the train station. **Seasonal variations:** Winter (December–February) offers clearest mountain views but cold coastal wind makes extended beach stays uncomfortable. Spring (April–May) has moderate visibility with cherry blossoms near the station. Summer (June–August) has poorest visibility due to humidity and haze — avoid unless already in the area. Autumn (October–November) offers decent clarity with fall colors on distant mountain slopes. **Noto Iwa rock formation:** The offshore Woman Rock (女岩, Onna Iwa) is framed in foreground with Tateyama in background — a classic composition.
