**Low tide exploration:** The Devil's Washboard is best viewed at low tide (check tide tables) when you can walk on the exposed sandstone ridges. The formations extend 100+ meters offshore, creating a rippled landscape. Wear water-resistant shoes with grip — the surface is slippery and covered in tidal pools. Marine life (crabs, small fish, sea urchins) populates the pools. **Shrine visit timing:** Aoshima Shrine is Miyazaki's top matchmaking shrine, attracting young couples and wedding parties. Weekends see crowds; weekday mornings (8:00–10:00) offer peaceful shrine experience.
