Miyazaki City Phoenix Zoo

**Flamingo viewing:** The flamingo pond is the zoo's centerpiece — 200+ birds create a pink mass when grouped together. Best viewing 11:00–14:00 when flamingos are most active. The birds occasionally perform synchronized movements (turning in unison, calling together) — mesmerizing to watch. Bring telephoto lens (200mm+) for close-up shots. **Sky-lift:** The ¥400 sky-lift ride ascends the hillside, providing elevated views over the zoo, Miyazaki city, and the Pacific. The 5-minute ride terminates at an observation deck. Best time: late afternoon (15:00–16:30) for golden-hour lighting over the ocean. **Family practicality:** The zoo is excellent for children — petting zoo, playground, food court, and gentle slopes. Adults without children might find it skippable unless particularly interested in flamingos. The ocean views are attractive but not worth the trip alone.
