Lucky Pierrot (ラッキーピエロ) is a Hakodate-only burger chain with 17 locations, each themed differently (pirate ship, carousel, Chinese palace, etc.). The burger is messy, indulgent, and utterly Japanese in its fusion sensibility.

The chain's mascot is a clown (Lucky Pierrot = Lucky Clown), and locations are decorated with overwhelming kitsch — mannequins, neon, vintage toys, carousel horses. The experience is part American diner, part Japanese pop maximalism. Despite the tourist popularity, locals genuinely eat here — a rarity for 'famous' regional chains.

**Signature orders:** Chinese Chicken Burger (¥440) is the #1 seller — massive, saucy, requires napkins. The Tonkatsu Burger (pork cutlet, ¥490) is a close second. Both come in 'enormous' sizes (+¥100) — only order if very hungry. The fries are shoestring-cut and addictive. Drink options include melon soda and Hokkaido milk (whole milk, rich and sweet). **Location choice:** The Bay Area branch (Suehiro-cho) has the most elaborate interior — pirate ship theme, animatronics, chandeliers, overwhelming decor. The Marina-end branch (also Suehiro-cho) is quieter and preferred by locals. Avoid the airport branch (long waits, reduced menu). **Peak times:** Lunch (12:00-13:00) and dinner (18:00-20:00) have 15-30 minute waits at popular branches. Off-peak (14:00-17:00) is immediate seating. The burger is served fresh-made in 8-10 minutes — worth the wait. **Souvenir:** Lucky Pierrot merchandise (T-shirts, keychains, tote bags) is sold at every location.
