The Sapporo Beer Museum (サッポロビール博物館) occupies a red-brick factory from 1890, when Hokkaido's cold climate and barley cultivation made it Japan's brewing center. Sapporo Beer, founded in 1876, is Japan's oldest beer brand, and this museum chronicles the Meiji-era industrialization that transformed Japan into a modern nation. The self-guided exhibits display vintage brewing equipment, advertising posters from the 1900s-1960s, and the evolution of beer culture in Japan.

The adjacent beer garden serves fresh Sapporo beer (unpasteurized 'nama' beer) alongside Genghis Khan (jingisukan) — Hokkaido's signature grilled lamb dish cooked on a convex iron helmet-shaped grill. The pairing of cold beer and smoky lamb in a century-old brick hall is quintessential Sapporo.
