Megane-bashi (Spectacles Bridge)

Megane-bashi ('Spectacles Bridge') is a double-arched stone bridge built in 1634 by the Chinese monk Mokusunyoujo — the oldest stone arch bridge in Japan. The name derives from the reflection: the two arches and their reflection in the Nakashima River create a perfect circle resembling spectacles. The bridge is 22 meters long with each arch spanning 11 meters.
The riverbank below contains the famous 'heart stone' — a natural heart-shaped stone embedded in the river wall that became a local legend and now attracts couples seeking good fortune. Finding the heart stone (it's small, about 20cm wide) is considered lucky.
