Cherry blossom season: The approach path and summit are lined with 400+ cherry trees that bloom early April (typically April 1–10). Night illumination (18:00–21:00 during bloom week) adds a magical dimension. Arrive before 9:00 to secure a spot for picnic seating — weekends are crowded.

Sunset strategy: The western view over Miho Bay and Lake Nakaumi provides unobstructed sunset horizons. The lake surface reflects golden light creating double-image sunsets. Time your arrival for 30 minutes before sunset (check seasonal sunset time) to explore the summit before the main event. Bring a light jacket — the exposed summit gets windy after dark.

Historical context: The stone walls you see today were constructed using the 'nozura-zumi' technique (irregular stones fitted without mortar), a method that has survived 400+ years of earthquakes. The walls alone justify the visit for castle architecture enthusiasts.
