Yokohama Cosmo World (よこはまコスモワールド) is a mid-sized amusement park in the heart of Minato Mirai, built on reclaimed harbor land around the iconic Cosmo Clock 21 Ferris wheel. The park operates on a pay-per-ride system (no entry fee — guests pay only for attractions they use), making it flexible for quick visits or extended stays. The 30+ attractions range from family-friendly carousels to intense roller coasters, with the Vanish coaster diving underwater into a tunnel beneath the adjacent canal.

The park's waterfront setting and nighttime illumination create romantic atmosphere — the Ferris wheel lights up in programmable LED patterns visible across Yokohama, and the canal reflections double the visual impact of ride lights. The park caters to all ages with zones for kids (Kiddie Carnival), thrill seekers (Wonder Amuse Zone with roller coasters), and couples (Ferris wheel date night). The combination of free entry, central location, and harbor views makes it popular for casual visits before or after exploring Minato Mirai's other attractions.

Insider Guide

Premium
**Ferris wheel timing:** The Cosmo Clock 21 (コスモクロック21, 112.5m diameter, 15-min rotation) is the park's signature attraction. Each gondola holds up to 8 people (solo riders may share with others on crowded days). Best timing: sunset ride (arrive 30 min before sunset, 17:00 winter/19:00 summer) to see daylight transition to illuminated cityscape. Night rides (after 19:00) offer full illuminated harbor view. Weekend waits reach 30–45 min; weekday evenings often walk-on. The view encompasses Yokohama Bay Bridge, Minato Mirai towers, Red Brick Warehouse, and harbor — worth the ¥1,000 for first-time visitors. **Thrill ride recommendations:** Vanish (バニッシュ, ¥800) is unique diving coaster — train plunges from 43m tower into underwater tunnel beneath the canal, emerging on the other side. The sensation of diving 'into' the water is exhilarating. Cyclone (サイクロン, ¥700) is classic steel coaster with loops and corkscrews. Spinning Coaster (スピニングコースター, ¥700) rotates cars while navigating track. If limited time/budget, prioritize Ferris wheel (iconic view) + one thrill ride (Vanish for uniqueness). **Free entry advantage:** Unlike Tokyo Disneyland or Universal Studios Japan (fixed entry ¥8,000–10,000 whether you ride or not), Cosmo World charges nothing to enter — you pay only for rides you choose (¥300–1,000 each). This allows quick visits (ride Ferris wheel only, 30 min, ¥1,000 total) or extended stays (multi-ride pass ¥2,500 for 5 rides, or pay individually). Suitable for non-rider companions who can walk through free while others ride. The park's compact size (walkable in 15 min) and Minato Mirai location make it easy add-on to waterfront sightseeing.
