**Optimal visiting route:** The museum is designed for uphill-to-downhill circulation — start at main entrance (lower elevation), work upward through sculpture gardens, reach Picasso Pavilion and foot-bath at upper level, then descend through different sculpture sections to exit. This routing minimizes uphill walking (Hakone's slopes are tiring). Allow 2.5 hours to see everything without rushing: 90 min outdoor sculptures (with photo stops), 45 min Picasso Pavilion, 20 min foot-bath. The museum map provided at entrance shows numbered route but isn't mandatory — wandering freely is equally rewarding. **Highlight sculptures:** Henry Moore's bronze figures (monumental abstract human forms in mountain setting create powerful scale contrast), Taro Okamoto's 'Symphony' tower (18m tall colorful sculpture, climbable), Niki de Saint Phalle's 'Miss Black Power' (vibrant mosaic figure in reflecting pool), Gabriel Loire's stained-glass tower (interior filled with colorful glass creating kaleidoscope effect when sunlight enters).
