伏見稻荷大社是京都最具代表性的神社，以「千本鳥居」聞名——上萬座朱紅鳥居構成的隧道，蜿蜒攀上神聖的稻荷山（233公尺）。參道穿過竹林與一座座供奉稻荷（掌管稻米、農業與生意興隆的神祇）的攝社，狐狸石像（稻荷的使者）遍布山間。
神社24小時開放、免費參拜，是京都參訪人數最多的地方。鳥居隧道一路延伸4公里至山頂，走完整段來回需2–3小時。

Fushimi Inari is free, open with no gate to close, and the single most photographed place in Japan. You do not need us to find it, and you do not need another description of the tunnel of gates. The one decision worth making in advance is how far up the mountain you intend to go, because the crowd thins with altitude and effort rather than with the hour — that is a property of the walk, not a tip we are claiming to have discovered.
The rest of what we can add is geographic. Southern Kyoto is thick with places nobody queues for, and we keep a catalogue of them with coordinates. Those are below.

最佳造訪時段
清晨（7:00前）最清靜，也是鳥居側光攝影的最佳時段。傍晚（18:00後）旅行團散去。平日早上遠比週末安靜。
避開人潮的訣竅
本殿一帶每日9:00–17:00人潮洶湧，下段鳥居隧道10:00–16:00最擠。走過最初15分鐘的鳥居，人潮可減少九成。避開櫻花季（4月初）、黃金週（4月底–5月初）與賞楓週末（11月）。夜訪清靜，但上段山路須帶手電筒。
停車資訊
無專用停車場。附近投幣停車：每日¥600–800（車位有限）。停車不便、電車又極方便，強烈建議搭乘大眾運輸。
在地私房情報
避開人潮： 神社每年參拜人數超過千萬。想清靜，請在早上7:00前（日出時間隨季節變化）或18:00旅行團離開後前往。鳥居隧道在清晨側光下最上相，立體感與陰影兼具。夜訪很有氣氛，但上段山路需帶手電筒。
登頂策略： 多數遊客走完最初15分鐘（千本鳥居段）就折返。繼續往山頂（233公尺）走，人潮會大幅減少。四辻（半山腰，上行約30分鐘）可俯瞰京都全景，若不攻頂，這裡是很好的折返點。真正的山頂因林木遮蔽視野有限。
狐狸石像的含意： 狐狸口中叼著象徵物：鑰匙（稻倉）、寶珠（財富）、卷軸（智慧）或稻穗（豐收）。留意這些細節，會為參拜增添故事層次。色澤較深、風化的鳥居是較早的奉納；鮮橘色的則是近期新立。
