姬路城是日本現存最精美的封建城堡，因潔白的外觀與優雅的身姿別名「白鷺城」。1609年建成，躲過二戰轟炸、地震與火災，保留了原始的木造結構。姬路城是世界遺產與國寶，代表日本城堡建築的巔峰。
城的防禦設計展現武士的軍事工程：如迷宮般令人困惑的路徑、隱藏的城門、可從牆上朝攻擊者投石的「石落」，以及陡峭的木階。六層的天守閣可眺望姬路市全景。周邊的櫻樹（逾千株）在4月初綻放出壯觀的花海。
