北野異人館是一片山坡上的歐式洋館群，建於1880–1900年代神戶開港為國際港時，供西方商人、外交官與貿易商居住。逾20棟保存的洋館展現維多利亞、法式文藝復興與美式殖民風格——漆上粉彩、四周花園俯瞰神戶港。
每棟洋館皆作為博物館，展示明治時代外國居民的家具、藝術品與生活文物。掛著獨特風向雞的風見雞館是街區的象徵。西式建築與日本山坡地景的融合，構成獨特的文化風景。
