The Kofu Basin's climate (hot summers, cold winters, long daylight hours) and volcanic soil create ideal growing conditions for premium fruit. Fruit-picking farms (tabehodai, 食べ放題, 'all you can eat') dot the valleys around Kofu, Fuefuki, and Koshu Cities, offering seasonal experiences where visitors pick and eat fruit directly from the trees or vines.

The fruit quality is exceptional — Yamanashi peaches are renowned for their sweetness and juice content, with the premium Hakuho variety commanding ¥1,000+ per peach in Tokyo department stores. Grapes range from Kyoho (giant purple grapes) to Pione (seedless black grapes) to the luxury Shine Muscat (green grapes with melon-like flavor, ¥5,000+ per bunch).
