De fin juin a aout, les collines de Furano et de Kami-Furano se couvrent de rangees de lavande qui teintent le paysage de violet jusqu'a l'horizon. La ferme la plus celebre, Farm Tomita, est en acces libre : les bandes de lavande alternent avec des coquelicots, des sauges et des tournesols, creant une palette de couleurs qui semble irreelle.

Furano se trouve au coeur de Hokkaido, une region agricole qui offre en ete des melons locaux, de la glace a la lavande et une ambiance rurale contrastant avec le Tokyo metropolitain. Le train touristique Norokko relie les principales fermes en saison. C'est l'un des paysages estivaux les plus emblematiques du Japon.

Furano in July is a scheduled event with a car park. The farms publish their own bloom reports, the buses run on a timetable built around them, and there is no version of this page that improves on any of that. We are not going to pretend there is a secret way to see a lavender field that fifty coaches are also seeing.

What our catalogue can do here is widen the frame. Central Hokkaido is one of the thinnest parts of the site for a reason — the distances are enormous and the settlements are small — so rather than a list of neighbours you get an honest pointer: the interior rewards a car and several days far more than it rewards a day trip, and the Hokkaido pages on this site are written on that assumption.

Train JR Furano depuis Sapporo (2 h) ou Asahikawa (1 h). Farm Tomita a 7 min a pied de la gare temporaire Lavender-Batake (en saison uniquement). Voiture recommandee pour visiter plusieurs fermes.

**Bloom timing:** Early lavender blooms late June to early July (lighter purple, smaller crowds). Full bloom is July 10-25 (deep purple, intense fragrance, maximum crowds). Late season (July 26-Aug 10) sees fading flowers. Farm Tomita publishes weekly bloom reports on their website (farm-tomita.co.jp). Weekdays have 50% fewer crowds than weekends during peak. **Best viewing location:** The hillside 'Irodori Field' (彩りの畑) offers the panoramic rainbow stripes with mountain backdrop — this is the postcard shot. Arrive by 9:00 to photograph without crowds blocking views. The 'Traditional Lavender Field' (traditional lavender field) behind the main building has the densest lavender planting and strongest fragrance. **Lavender products:** The farm shop sells lavender soft-serve ice cream (¥300), lavender essential oil (¥1,500-3,000), dried lavender sachets (¥500), and lavender honey (¥1,200). The soft-serve is gimmicky but the essential oil is high-quality (food-grade). The perfume bottles (¥2,500) make elegant souvenirs. **Beyond Farm Tomita:** Hokuso no Oka Observatory Park (北星の丘展望公園, a drive) has lavender fields with 1/10th the crowds and equally stunning views. Kanno Farm (菅野農場) offers tractor-cart rides through flower fields (¥500). Combine multiple farms for a full-day flower tour.
