Kyoto Station (京都駅) is a controversial modern architectural landmark designed by Hiroshi Hara (completed 1997). The 15-story glass-and-steel structure contrasts sharply with Kyoto's traditional architecture — sparking protests during construction but now recognized as a bold statement. The building's interior features a massive atrium (70m high), skyway walkways, and rooftop observation deck with city views.

Fridays/weekends see live music performances on the stairs. **Restaurant floor strategy:** The 11th-floor Kyoto Ramen Koji (京都拉麺小路) gathers 9 ramen shops from across Japan in a retro 1960s Kyoto streetscape setting.
