錦市場是一條有頂棚的窄巷商店街,容納逾百家專門食材店,販售京都的時令食材:漬物、京都風壽司、新鮮湯葉(豆皮)、烤魚、和菓子與茶。市場已營業400年,最初是魚貨批發市場,如今仍是京都頂級餐廳的採購地。
商店街東西向貫穿京都市中心400公尺,兩側店家緊密相連。氣氛熱鬧而有序——攤商吆喝、常有免費試吃,烤魚與燉高湯的香氣瀰漫其間。
